The YMCA is nonstop when it comes to having impact on people and communities. For me, personally, teen programs is where my heart is. I grew up doing every program the Y has to offer and I use to absolutely hate it.
Thankfully I stuck around because a few individuals. My peers and adults that were a part of my youth taught me to change my perspective from myself to others. Once I made this change I fell in love with what the Y does and what it's done for me and only wanted to share the passion with as many as possible.
As a sophomore I knew I wanted to be in charge of the teen programs of Kaimuki Y. Fast forward 8 years and I am. I never take this job for granted and realize how lucky i am to be able to work with so many teens who want to make a difference.
None of this is possible without people who donate to and support Y programs. The teens have started their own team with a goal of $3000 to contribute to Kaimuki. Please take the time to read what they have to say on their own pages. I hope you can find it in your hearts to donate to the Y, but more importantly our future.
