My 2021 Kaimuki Annual Campaign Fundraising Page

Debra Agoo

The year I was diagnosed with cancer was a blur. The hardest thing I had to do was break the news to my son and daughter and support them while I underwent treatment. Little did I know how much of a lifeline my neighborhood YMCA would be. Club Mid and teen director Bryan Murphy provided a safe space, lots of emotional support and leadership development disguised as community/volunteer service for my daughter Joie and her circle of friends all through middle school and into their teens. The Ys Leaders-in-Training supplemented my son's JROTC training, cementing his decision to serve in the US Army upon graduation. I am eternally grateful to the Y for being there for my kids when I couldn't. Joie went from a introverted, cautious pre-teen to a confident, mature young lady...To Hawaii's 2020 Prudential High School volunteer of the year to Seattle U's President's List her first quarter. Jase is living his dream serving his country.

Please help me support YMCA of Honolulu by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance YMCA of Honolulu's efforts to develop and support our youth, especially after the challenges of 2020! Ask me how you can get involved too.

Together, we can make a difference!
