For more than 150 years, your participation has helped the YMCA strengthen communities by connecting people to their potential, purpose and each other. But this past year was unlike any other. We experienced isolation, loss, shutdowns, record unemployment, escalating needs for shelter and food, and more.
As our world and our communities experienced a shutdown, our YMCA charged toward the front lines. Together, we provided more than 100,000 meals to keiki in our community who were reliant on school lunches. We provided care for 1,700+ children so our essential workers could keep serving and parents could get back to work. We connected teens through virtual enrichment and social programs to keep them thriving, and provided counseling support to at-risk teens to keep them healthy and safe. We collected more than 100,000 pieces of PPE to be distributed to health care and other essential workers. We made the Virtual Y a reality allowing our community to stay connected and healthy through ongoing Zoom classes. At Camp Erdman we kept 40 houseless individuals and families in safe transitional housing, and at the Central Y, we provided financial assistance which allowed many impacted individuals and families to remain safely housed in our resident facilities.
The needs in our community will grow in 2021 as we recover from the pandemic. This year, more than ever, we will be relying on the generosity of you, our donors, to make sure that we continue our 150+ year legacy of serving the most critical needs of our community and truly be available “for all.”
We need your support to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to grow strong in spirit, mind and body. Please join me in continuing the legacy of our Y by giving on-line and seeing how I am doing to reach my personal goal. Alternatively, you can complete the 2021 Annual Campaign Form and return to me for processing – either by scanning and sending back to me; or by mailing a check and enclosing the Campaign Form to my attention.
